Benefit Roller Lash Mascara Review

The latest launch from Benefit Cosmetics is their Roller Lash Mascara, and since I received a sample of it in my March Birchbox, I figured I'd do a review!

Benefit are known for their They're Real mascara, being the number one best selling mascara in the UK and I own it myself - love it! So I was curious to see if this mascara could live up to a similar hype...

Benefit's claim is that it is 'a roller for lashes! The eye-opening Hook ‘n’ Roll brush grabs, separates, lifts and curls…while the instant curve-setting formula holds for 12 hours'.

Obviously the original mascara will be bigger and have a different outer packaging to my sample - it looks cuter! But the brush is the same, being made of plastic bristles and having a curved shape - shorter bristles on the inner curve and longer bristles on the outer curve.

The aim is to fit that curve into the root of your lashes and wiggle up, so I did that! At first it felt a bit tricky, but after a while you get the hang of it - I was probably trying to apply it too perfect.

I'll insert some pictures below of the They're Real mascara wand for comparison - the Benefit cult product. 

* By the way, I've had my They're Real for a while so that's why the formula looks a tad thick on the wand.

When applying the Roller Lash, it definitely lengthened my lashes LOADS and curled them really well - I did curl them afterwards but it didn't make much of a difference, so I believe the Benefit claim! The plastic bristles also helped to separate my lashes amazingly, especially on my lower lashes... it's my new fave for that purpose.

Only downside I have is that I didn't see any volume, but the Roller Lash is not promoted to do that so it's understandable! However, I therefore prefer the They're Real for my own lashes since I'm always after some BIG volume - but if you're looking for an amazing mascara to lengthen then I'd highly recommend the Roller Lash.

Overall, I'd give the Roller Lash a big thumbs up!

If you're after a lengthening mascara that curls your lashes way up then it's defo worth purchasing, although if you're looking for volume and thickness then stick with the They're Real.
