REVIEW & SWATCHES: MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers

During a recent shop in Superdrug, I came across the MUA section. If I'm completely honest, I have never taken an interest in MUA products before but they had a couple interesting things on show, in particular these lip lacquers!
Seeing the world 'velvet' and the fact that they were a liquid lipstick instantly reminded me of the Limecrime Velvetines, a type of product that loads of companies are producing at the moment. The lip lacquers were in a fancy packaging which caught my eye, with a sleek black and gold colour scheme and a variety of amazing shades. From nudes to reds to bright purples, there's a shade for everyone and I'm tempted to buy them all...

For £3.00 each these lip lacquers are a bargain?! However to test them out at first, I went for two shades - 'Atomic' and 'Halcyon'. 'Atomic' is a neon orange/red, a shade that I don't have in my collection and that I knew would be a stand out, I've never seen anything like it. 'Halcyon' is a nude shade with a perfect mix of pink and brown, one that would suit a range of skin tones.
The pigmentation in one swipe is amazing - full amount of colour that you can see in the tube. At first they apply wet but then dry to a matte finish after a few minutes. Although there is a SLIGHT patchiness, it can easily be fixed by applying more product to any areas where you need it. Then you'll have a seamless look.

QUICK TIP: Exfoliate lips before and apply one coat initially, then add any more product to the areas where you need it. Don't add a second coat whilst the first coat is drying!- it gets all chunky on the lips and starts to split.

Overall, I am in love with these MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers, they are awesome dupes for all of the expensive liquid lipsticks out there by Limecrime, Stila, Kat Von D etc. For £3.00 you can't go wrong by trying out at least one shade, I'll probably buy some more! Remember, if you want to have a look at the shades in person then you can find MUA products in most Superdrug stores.

Please leave any feedback and questions in the comments.
