How I Clean My Brushes & Sigma Glove Dupe

Cleaning your makeup brushes has to be one of the most important things you do, whether you're a makeup artist or someone who wears makeup daily! The amount of bacteria that clogs up in them and the application of your makeup all depends on how often you clean your brushes - I recommend once a week if you wear makeup everyday or at least once a fortnight.
I've trialled all sorts of techniques and I think I've found the cheapest and most effective way! My key tool is a Silicone Oven Glove I purchased from Amazon, an AMAZING dupe for the Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove which is over ten times the price.

The glove has the same style of ridges and bumps that the Sigma glove has, so it prevents your hand from drying out and gives the brush a deep clean.
To clean the brushes themselves I use any sort of baby shampoo, so the one I'm using at the moment is one from the Superdrug 'My Little Star' range.

First off I hold my brush with the bristles facing down and wet it under the tap - lukewarm water is best. I also wet the front of the glove to prepare it for the shampoo.

Next, I squirt a 2p sized amount of shampoo onto the glove for larger brushes (or 5p for smaller brushes) and begin swirling the brush into the shampoo. You may need to be more vigorous or add more shampoo for dense brushes.

Once bubbled up, I rinse both the brush and glove and get rid of anymore shampoo by swirling the brush onto the glove, but this time under the running tap of water. You will know that the brush is clean once there are no more bubbles appearing!

To squeeze out the excess water, I place the brush between the thumb and palm of the glove and pull through, and then grip it between a towel. The less water in the brush, the quicker it will dry!

The best way to dry brushes is to have them slanting downwards (so any water inside drips out) and placed over the edge of a table. To create the slant, I roll a flannel over a few times, flip it over and then place the end of the brush on the rolled side.

I hope this helps anyone with their technique to brush cleaning, please leave any feedback in the comments!
xoxo
